Do you or will you accept short stories now or in the future?
Hi Erin: we don’t accept short stories right now but we’re considering it for the future. We stuck with poetry and essays on poetics because our primary focus and interest is poetry. So stay tuned…we might expand our reach in the near future.

Thanks. I’m mostly a novel and short story writer. I do dabble in poetry, though.
Cool. Feel free to send us any poetry you’d like us to consider. When/if we decide to accept short fiction, we’ll announce it publicly on here and the various social media outlets.
Hey, thanks so much for this opportunity! I will spread the word at dverse, Poets United, Imaginary Garden With Real Toads, and with my poetry “e-family” in general. I will also submit a poem I wrote to your prompt! Thanks, Amy Barlow Liberatore
Very awesome! Thank you for helping to share this far and wide.
I like the Idea of your endeavour.
I wish you success.
Thank you. 🙂
Can you elaborate on what this publication is? Ex: is a print (or e-book) going to made? Or will it only be published online (via a website/social media, or other)?
Hi Aliza: right now, Barking Sycamores will be an online publication only. We hope to publish a print in the near future, but that will be after we’ve published a while. Thank you for your interest. 🙂

As a currently stabled-out bipolar, I’m guessing some poetry from when I was deep in the vortex is still open for submission? There was some pretty dark and energetic stuff spilling out of me about then…
Hi Nathan: feel free to send it over for our review.

Let the archive scouring commence. Thanks for the response.
[…] a look at our submission guidelines…and send us your poems! Oh yeah, we take artwork […]
We find it necessary to be this specific due to the nature of our publication. If you have any questions about the submission process, I invite you to contact us. Thank you.

Hi the submission period for the fall/wintr issue was from july 20- september 19, yet the submittable wont let me submit saying there are no calls for submissions. Please advise.
Hello: We recently updated our submission and issue calendar. The unthemed Issue 11 reading period opens on September 1. Sorry about the difficulties you’ve had and the confusion. Keep an eye out: our Submittable page is set up to automatically open submissions on that date. Thanks, Ian N.
